Listen to Obituary

Ronald “Steve” Rose, 73, of Johnson City, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at his home. A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Steve was born on March 8, 1953, to the late Clarence and Blanche Carrier Rose. He graduated from Science Hill High School in 1972.

Steve married the love of his life, Teresa Marks, on November 30, 1974. High school sweethearts, they had been together since the ages of 14 and 17. Growing up across the street from one another, they attended the same church throughout their childhood and remained devoted lifelong members of Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, where they were also married.

Steve’s passions included music, Harleys, fishing, the outdoors, and spending time in nature. Above all, he loved his family and his faith in God. He learned body shop repair from his father-in-law, Cecil Marks, and made a career of it, owning two body shops over the years. He also worked for Thomasville Furniture in Johnson City, where he later retired.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, William Jerry Rose; his father-in-law, Cecil Marks; mother-in-law, Patsy Counts; and his sister-in-law, Debbie Marks Jensen.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Teresa Rose; sister-in-law, Becky (Greg) Marks Manis; brother-in-law, Bobby (Jill) Marks; nephew, Joseph Durham; nieces, Raquel Marks and Rihanna Todd; and beloved fur baby, Coco Rose.

Steve’s family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, with a funeral service immediately following under the direction of Rev. Bill McDaniel. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Washington County-Johnson City Emergency Medical Services. Memories and condolences may be shared via morrisbaker.com.
