Roy M. Rowe

Roy Malcom Rowe, 84, of 2101 Christian Village Lane, died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mt. Home. He was a native of Washington County, Virginia, but had lived most of his life in Johnson City, a son of the late, James E. and Oyce Swartz Rowe. Roy was a veteran of WWII having served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was a former Government Safety Inspector with Holston Defense, a former manager of the Gray Banking and Trust and worked for twenty years in accounting with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge #47 Jonesborough, the Eastern Star a Shriner and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Johnson City. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Joan Nieminski Rowe and a daughter, Sandra Sue Rowe Kuntz. Survivors include two sons, Randy Rowe, Asheville, NC and James Roger Rowe, Johnson City; one daughter, Marsa Nidiffer, Elizabethton; one brother, W.C. Rowe, Jonesborough; one sister, Frances Keen, Gray; two grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Nidiffer, Elizabethton and Roy Daniel Nidiffer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, under the direction of Mr. Jim Kenney and Mr. David Carver. At the conclusion of the funeral service a committal service will be conducted in the Monte Vista Memorial Park with burial to follow. Military honors will be provided by the VFW post 3382 of Kingsport. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Morris - Baker Funeral Home.
