Rufus E. Smith

Rev. Rufus E. Smith, 82, Church Hill, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN. He was a native of Hurley, VA, and the son of the late Hobart and Mona Mullins Smith. Rev. Smith was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the French Broad Church of the Brethren, Dandridge, TN. Prior to joining the ministry full time, Rev. Smith was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. In his ministry he served as pastor of churches in Virginia, Dandridge, TN., as well as First Church of the Brethren, Johnson City. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Irene Sluss Smith, of the home.
