Sheila Leonard, 71, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, following a brief illness.

Sheila was born on December 11, 1954, in Mullens, West Virginia, to the loving home of Walter and Grace Fisher. She was a proud Air Force veteran, and her years of service to her country took her to the Southwest, where she made her home in Arizona for many years.

Sheila came to Tennessee and began a long and dedicated career with The Duncan Law Firm in Johnson City, where she faithfully served for more than 25 years. Her commitment to her work and the relationships she built throughout the years were an important part of her life.

Outside of her career, Sheila found tremendous joy and companionship in her dogs and in the sport of agility training. What began as a love for her dogs became a meaningful part of her life, bringing her happiness, purpose, and a wonderful community of people who shared her passion. Through agility training, Sheila formed many lasting friendships and cherished relationships that she held close to her heart.

Sheila will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her devotion to her beloved dogs, her strength and independence, and the meaningful connections she made throughout her life. Though her time with those she loved was cut short, the memories she created and the love she gave will remain treasured by all who knew her.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Grace Fisher; and her brother, Frank Fisher.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved daughter, Holly (Brian) Hicks; and her very special granddaughter, Arabella Faith Hicks, who brought immense joy and love to her life.

A committal service for Sheila will be scheduled at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Sheila's honor to The Washington County/Johnson City Animal Shelter.
