Shirley J. Stephens, 64, 758 Austin Springs Road, Johnson City went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2007 from the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Stephens was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late John and Hattie Feathers Baker. Mrs. Stephens was a former employee of Morflo Industries with sixteen years of service. She was a member of the Princeton Free Will Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by: her parents; and a sister, Mabel Vanhoy. Survivors include: her husband, Stewart Stephens of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Stewart R. Stephens, Jr. and wife Melanie of Johnson City; two daughters, Patricia Cox of Jonesborough, and Linda Stephens of Jackson ,TN; one brother, Johnny Baker of Georgia; one sister, Betty Stephens of Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Brandon S. Cox, Austin L. Cox, Christian L. Cox, Cody J. Orr, Logan Blake Orr, Kaley A. Stephens, Lindsey B. Stephens, and Emily B. Stephens; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Shirley J. Stephens will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, April 28, 2007 in the Princeton F.W.B. Church. Rev. Randy English and Rev. Richard Honeycutt will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 1:30 PM Sunday to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be grandsons , nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at the Princeton F.W.B. Church on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM prior to the service.
