Teresa Ann King, 63, a devoted wife, mother and friend to many, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 to be with her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Johnson City on August 31, 1960, to Doris Yelton Whitson and the late Edward C. Whitson.
She attended Daniel Boone High School, where she enjoyed her time as a commander of the Boonettes before graduating in 1979. At a very young age she found the importance of accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior and followed Him throughout her lifetime. For the last few years, she had attended Mountain View Baptist Church in Johnson City.
Prior to having children, she worked for the Washington County Courthouse as well as the United States Postal Service. Once she became a mother, Teresa took on her career at home full-time and served multiple roles as a dedicated housewife, mother, and bookkeeper of the family's farming business.
She loved decorating her home and family barns, and she had a passion for flower gardening. In any given season she would have beautiful arrangements in her home made from flowers and plants grown in her own gardens. Most importantly, she fulfilled her greatest purpose in life by spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by one sister, Janet Miller.
Alongside her mother, those left to cherish her memory include: her husband of 43 years, Steve King; children, John King and Lauren Burchfield; brother, Eddie Whitson; grandson, Samuel King; as well as niece and nephew, Heather Buck and Chuck Whitson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver Sierra Wright and the nursing staff at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Bristol Hospice House. This team provided excellent care for Teresa as she made the transition to her heavenly home. Thank you as well to the friends, family, and those in the farming community and ag related industry for always being there to support her.
The King family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Roy Yelton and Pastor Rich Murray. Afterward, those attending will go in procession from the funeral home to New Bethel Cemetery in Piney Flats to lay Teresa to rest.
Teresa King was a loving and caring woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and love of life.
