Obituary for Thomas Marvin Weiss Sr.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thomas Marvin Weiss Sr., who left us on October 20, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on September 13, 1942, in Greenville, West Virginia, Thomas made his home in Bristol, Virginia, where he touched lives and left lasting impressions on everyone he met.

Thomas was a proud member of the glass manufacturing community, dedicating many years of his life to quality control at Ball Corp. But more than his work, he found joy in his faith, being a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and studying his Bible daily. He loved fishing and took great pleasure in helping others, always lending a friendly hand or a listening ear.

Thomas was preceded in death by Parents Wade Herman Weiss, Alice Burkes Weiss, son, Tommy Weiss Jr., three brothers Russell, Emit, and Carl, and two sisters, Pat and his beloved sister Nila.

He is survived by his beloved son, Tim Weiss (and Karen), his brother Billy (and Vanessa), and his cherished granddaughter, Hannah Hawkins. Thomas also leaves behind a special friend, Haroldine Ward. Several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in Bristol VA, and the team at Johnson City Medical Center for their compassion and care during this time.

A graveside service to celebrate Thomas's life will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery 2858 North Carolina Hwy 150, Lincolnton, NC 28092 on Monday, October 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM. All who knew him are welcome to join us in honoring his memory and sharing stories about this remarkable man who enriched our lives.
