A WONDERFUL LIFE

Timothy (Tim) Taylor Swecker, 60, passed away on Tuesday July 18th 2023 at Johnson City (JC) Medical Center. Tim is survived by his three brothers, Captain Mitch Swecker (USN Ret), Chris Swecker, Steve Swecker and sisters-in-law Kim Swecker, Karen Swecker and Susan Swecker. His brothers were at his side when he passed peacefully.

Tim was the beloved Uncle to nieces Julie Swecker, Ashley Swecker Denton, Kristin Swecker, Lauren Swecker Frye and nephews Andrew Swecker, Matthew Swecker and Alex Swecker.

Tim was the Regional Manager for Pepsi Cola before retiring in 2017. Tim was a pillar of the JC community, having served as a longstanding Board Member and Chairman of the United Way and Board Member of the JC Coalition for Kids Inc (C4K), Girl Scouts of JC, The JC, Jonesboro, Washington County, Chamber of Commerce, American Heart Association, Girl Scouts of Va., Roanoke County Educational Council, and Greater Roanoke Chamber of Commerce. Tim is well known for organizing and hosting the spectacular annual 4th of July Pepsi fireworks display in JC.

Tim believed in helping others and he walked the walk every day. He gave thousands of hours to all his causes up to the moment of his passing. Tim was a prolific fundraiser and gave generously to all the nonprofit listed above and more. He also mentored a C4K from age 9 through his teen years.

Tim grew up in Virginia Beach, Va. and graduated from Frank Cox High School in 1980. He graduated from VPI in 1986 and for the remainder of his life was a loyal and active Hokie fan. He and his fellow tailgaters seldom missed a home game and took to the road for countless bowl games over the years. Their tailgate parties were epic. We will miss his contagious smile, his sense of humor and his love for his friends, family, Woodford Reserve, Christmas, Hokie tailgates, Blackjack, his own standing Rib Roasts and life itself. When it came to family and friends Tim was all in. He gave his all. He worked, loved and played like there was no tomorrow.

Tim knew there is a higher power that we answer to, and he heard the call. He is now with the Angels and is reunited with his beloved mother Kathryn Swecker and father Capt. Gene Swecker (USN Ret.)

Tim will be interred next to his mother in a family service in Christiansburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers Tim would like to have people donate in his name to the Johnson City Coalition for Kids Inc (C4K).

Goodbye brother Tim. Like your favorite character, George Bailey, you truly lived a wonderful life!

Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37601 is honored to serve the Swecker family.
