Tracy Ellen Tanner-Harris, 57, of Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, following a brief illness. Though her passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved her, the kindness, warmth, and love she shared throughout her life will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A lifelong resident of Elizabethton, Tracy was born and raised in the community she proudly called home. She graduated from Happy Valley High School in 1987 and went on to dedicate nearly 30 years of faithful service as the Head Administrator of the Carter County Election Commission. Through her years of commitment and professionalism, Tracy became a respected and familiar presence in her community, earning the admiration of those with whom she worked and served.
Tracy was a spiritual woman with a tender heart and a genuine love for others. She found joy in the simple things that made life special, including spending time with her beloved animals, dressing up for Halloween, and enjoying her favorite Christmas movies. She had a welcoming spirit and a kindness that seemed to come naturally, always willing to extend a helping hand, a thoughtful word, or a little compassion to anyone who needed it. Above all else, however, Tracy cherished being a mother. Her two children were the greatest joys of her life, and the love she held for them was immeasurable. Being their mother was the role she treasured most, and the love she gave them will remain a lasting part of their lives.
Tracy is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Donna and Raymond Tanner, whom she held dear.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her two children, Chase Potter and his fiancée, Tara, and her cherished daughter, Aspen Harris, who was so much like her mother in heart, personality, and spirit; her brother, Lenny Tanner and his wife, Kim; her nephew, Christopher and his wife, Krista; her niece, Lensey; her aunt, Anita Holdren and her husband, Rick; and her uncle, Garry Edwards and his wife, Sherry, who will also officiate the services. She also leaves behind many other beloved family members and cherished friends.
Tracy shared a special bond with her closest friends, Janet Brumit, Amber Sturdivant, Jennifer Martin, and Darlene Conley, whose friendship and love held a treasured place in her heart.
The family of Tracy Tanner-Harris will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in the Dogwood Chapel of Morris-Baker Funeral Home.
A burial service will be held the following morning, Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50am.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Potter, Lenny Tanner, Christopher Tanner, Phillip Brumit, Scottie Potter, Rick Holdren, and Landon Honeycutt.
Tracy will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
