Vickie Eileen Slemp

Vickie Eileen Slemp, 64, of Piney Flats, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at her home.

She was born in Johnson City on June 15, 1959, a daughter of the late William E. Slemp and Mary Sartain Slemp.

Vickie was an upbeat person who enjoyed spending time with those she loved. From her younger days playing Yahtzee and making popcorn with Mamaw Slemp and The Cousins up to more recent memories made coloring with her sister, Gina. She loved to travel, but as Elvis Presley’s biggest fan her favorite place ever was Graceland. She truly cherished the time she got to spend at church every Sunday since 1996 at Telford Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandparents, William H & Virginia Slemp, Shang & Alice Sartain; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Jeffrey Bell, Luchi Bell, and Charlotte Parlier.

Those left to cherish her memory include: sisters, Shanna Lewis Slemp, Regeni “Gina” Rodriguez, Rebecca Douglas Finley, and Angela Runion; nephews, Josh Lewis, Jordan Lewis, and Shane Bell; as well as many more beloved cousins and fond friends.

In 1996, Vickie started a wonderful journey with Core Services of Northeast Tennessee. Over the years, there have been so many special caregivers who were so loving and giving to her. Special thanks to everyone who made Vickie a part of their families over the years.

Vickie’s family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. Afterward, there will be a graveside service beginning at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to gather at the graveside by 12:50 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter in memory of Vickie’s love for all her furry friends.
