Wanda Kate "Katie" Walker, born on July 23, 1936, in Johnson City, TN, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Johnson City, Katie was known for her warm heart and nurturing spirit, dedicating her life to her family. As a proud housewife, she poured her love into creating a warm, welcoming home for her husband, Ernest Walker Jr., and their two children, Ernie and Leanne.

A faithful, lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was Past President of The Junior Service League of Johnson City and Chapter 754 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Other memberships include: Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at Bernau College, Ann Robertson Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Johnson City Power Squadron, Southern Dames, The Monday Club, Colonial Dames, Dilettantes, Merry Wives, Bridge Club of America, and a Girl Scout Brownie Leader as well as Cub Scout Den Mother. She graduated from East Tennessee State College where she served as a ROTC Sponsor.

Katie was a woman of many talents, enjoying the simple pleasures in life. Whether it was cooking delicious meals, tending to her garden, Genealogy, Boating or cheering on her grandkids at their various activities, she did it all with joy and enthusiasm. Her laughter and kind words made a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Katie was preceded in death by: her father, James Eugene Green; her mother, Mary Alice Young Green; a sister, Ida Lois Green; and her brother, James Cecil Green.

Katie is survived by: her devoted husband, Ernest Walker Jr.; loving son, Ernest Walker (Andra); her cherished daughter, Leanne Cox (Ernie); grandsons, Joshua Walker and Jacob Walker (Kera); two granddaughters, Rachel Walker (Chris Sargent), and Katelyn Carole Walker (Martin Drone); and a Great Grandson, Walker Mann.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family of Katie Walker will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM Friday, October 24, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St, Johnson City. The funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Jodie Ihfe officiating. Pallbearers will be Jacob Walker, Jim Green, Ernie Cox, Chris Sargent, Martin Drone and Michael Meek. Following the funeral service, family and friends will gather at Monte Vista Burial Park for graveside services where we can share our favorite memories and honor the wonderful lady that Katie was. Join us as we remember her beautiful spirit and the love she brought into our lives.
